Description

The fourth of our history cafe sessions focusing on the history of the Monastery of Paisley will look at the Commondators of the Monastey. From 1553, the last Abbot, John Hamilton made his 10 year old nephew Claud this successor and from that point Claud effectivly became the lay administrator with a prior running the ecclesiastical side of thinds. We will look at life in the monastery under Claud, pre and post reformation.

This session will be held in Blend Coffee Lounge in Paisley Arts Centre, New Street, Paisley, PA1 1EZ on Saturday16th May 2026 between 10 and 11.30pm. Each history cafe has limited places available (6) and these can be booked here for £5. All profits from the History Cafes go to the Beatson Cancer Charity.

All history cafes are in-person only. They are not available online.
All bookings are non-refundable if you fail to attend the event. If the Urban Historian has to cancel the event, a refund or opportunity to attend the rescheduled event, or another event will be offered.
