Description

This Family History session will look at using local Trade Directories for your family history research. The first directory coving the west of Scotland was printed and circulated in 1783 and covered the years 1783/84. Its not until 1829 that we see the start of regular diectories being produced for Renfrewshire, with names, address and business details along with adverts and local information being published. This session will look at a couple of the early examples covering renfrewshire and how useful they can be…

This session will be held in Blend Coffee Lounge in Paisley Arts Centre, New Street, Paisley, PA1 1EZ on Saturday 7th March 2026 between 10 and 11.30pm. Each history cafe has limited places available (6) and these can be booked here for £5. All profits from the History Cafes go to the Beatson Cancer Charity.
