Description
This Family History session will look at using Poll Tax records for your family history research. No not Margaret Thatches Poll Tax, but the 1695 Poll Tax that covered covered all of Scotland. This tax roll, is extreamly useful in late 17th Century ancestral research as it was recorded by County, then Parish and then the local estates. It names land owners, wifes, childen other relatives living at the properties and servants and employees. #we will also briefly loook at the 1691 Hearth tax.
This session will be held in Blend Coffee Lounge in Paisley Arts Centre, New Street, Paisley, PA1 1EZ on Saturday 6th June 2026 between 10 and 11.30pm. Each history cafe has limited places available (6) and these can be booked here for £5. All profits from the History Cafes go to the Beatson Cancer Charity.

All history cafes are in-person only. They are not available online.
All bookings are non-refundable if you fail to attend the event. If the Urban Historian has to cancel the event, a refund or opportunity to attend the rescheduled event, or another event will be offered.
