Description

The High Parish Church has been a central landmark in Johnstone since 1792. It was built on land donated by local landowner George Ludovic Houston Esq of Johnstone who also  funded the octagonal grey sandstone church which features alater spire, a historic graveyard, and 3-foot thick walls, representing over 200 years of community witness and industrial-era history.

The graveyard contains memorials to many of the towns tradesmen, merchants, provosts and population who all helped shape the town.

The tour of the graveyard will take around 1.5 hours.

The tours are free and are providedd by The Urban Historian and supported by Renfrewshire Council through the Culture, Heritagr and Events Fund.

We meet at the entance to the graveyard at Ludovic Square, Johnstone PA5 8EE
