Description

Paisley Abbey was founded in 1163 by Walter fitz Alan, 1st High Steward of Scotland. This talk will begin with a look at the arrival of Mirin in Paisley in the 6th Century and then focus on a brief history of the Abbey, its later restorations and recent archaeological excavations in the Abbey Precinct.

This talk will be held in the Session Room of Paisley St George’s Church on Causeyside Street, Paisley, PA1 1YP on TUESDAY 24th March 2026 between 7 and 9pm. Entry is only from the Porch entrance on Causeyside Street. There is no access from the Hall entrance on Stow Street.
