Description

Renfrew was originally the head burgh of the County of Renfrew, gaining its status as a Royal Burgh around 1127 which was re-confirmed in 1397. The early history of the Royal burgh is closely linked with the High Stewards of Scotland, whos history will be exoplored in the talk, along with the Royal Castles of the Burgh and thropugh to its connections with industry and shipbuilding.

This talk will be held in the Session Room of Paisley St George’s Church on Causeyside Street, Paisley, PA1 1YP on TUESDAY 14th February 2026 between 7 and 9pm. Entry is only from the Porch entrance on Causeyside Street. There is no access from the Hall entrance on Stow Street.
